Chamber Choir Dimus
The Chamber Choir Dimus is a mixed choir founded in 1994. The number of singers is about 30, their age varying between 50 and 70. The majority of singers have studied in Helsinki University of Technology, therefore a brisk, vivid and relaxed polytechnic spirit still characterizes musical and leisure activities. All singers have singing experience from a variety of student and other choirs.
Chamber Choir Dimus sings diverse á cappella choir music from Finland and abroad, including classical, religious and modern compositions, folk and light music. A few smaller ensembles have emerged among the singers, giving a nice flavour for concerts. Dimus gives from two to four concerts annually, with varying themes and surroundings.
During the 30 years of existence the choir has made several concert tours abroad, latest in Germany (2006), Czech Republic (2010), Austria (2011), St. Petersburg, Russia (2013), Barcelona, Vilafranca, Spain (2016) and Lyon France (2023).
The conductor of Chamber Choir Dimus is since 2024 Liisalotta Lepistö. Liisalotta holds a professional musician's degree in piano. She continues her Master of Arts studies in church music, organ and choir conducting at the Sibelius Academy, the university providing the highest level of music education in Finland.
Dimus rehearses three evenings per month in Otaniemi, Espoo .
